Fire Photography Memberships

The International Organization of Fire Photography (IOFP) recognizes members from established fire photography organizations. If you are looking to join an organization, we would suggest that you choose from the following:

INTERNATIONAL FIRE PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION (IFPA)
The International Fire Photographers Association was organized in 1964 at the Chicago Fire Academy. This association of professional fire department photographers conducted its first training conference in 1965 with 150 delegate members from the United States and Canada. Conference attendees formed an organization for the primary purpose of advancing the effectiveness of fire photography. In 1965, the International Fire Photographers Association was officially formed.

Today, the International Fire Photographers Association magazine, the Fire Photographers Journal, reaches members throughout the United States, Canada and ten other countries. The Association established a Fire Photographers Certification Program that is available to all members. This program is divided into three levels of knowledge, education and expertise: Journeyman, Craftsman, and most honored, Master Fire Photographer. There are numerous training programs also available to the membership.

TIDEWATER FIRE PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION
TFPA is an organization made up of active and retired Firefighters, Police Officers, Rescue/EMS personnel, Emergency Dispatchers, Fire Buffs and Lay Persons that all share a common interest in fireground or fire apparatus photography. Members share their work with the subjects of the photos at no cost, publish in trade publications, provide educational photo spreads (firefighter safety), publish on the internet or exchange with other fire photography clubs around the nation. We have members on the Southside, Peninsula, Richmond area and Northeastern NC.

TFPA members are also actively involved in the furtherance of the fire service mission by providing photographic services to any emergency agency upon request. TFPA members have photographed suspicious fire scenes for use in evidence collection and prosecution, special events involving the emergency services, training evolutions, mass casualty incidents, explosion scenes and a host of other subject matter.
